Perfect for 90% of monitoring needs

Opmerkingen: Generally excellent. Well-made, highly reliable and well-priced for the feature set it comes with. It's easy for my team to get going with as well as it's nicely designed and they've gone with a small, curated set of features (rather than chucking everything in).

Pluspunten:

So many monitoring systems are either massive overkill and overkill, or half-baked and insufficient. OhDear sits perfectly in the middle and is a well-designed, fantastic monitoring system that's perfect for a lot of sites and apps. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, and for my firm there's still a place for expensive tools such as Datadog, but for the majority of use-cases OhDear is about perfect.

Minpunten:

Almost nothing, really. For large complex products we can't *only* use OhDear as we sometimes also need things like automated multi-step browser tests, but for 80% of what we do OhDear is excellent.

They failed to raise to their own expectation

Opmerkingen: The overall experience with Oh Dear was ok, but I could not monitor a few domains because of them. One of my domains expired because they failed to notify me.
I wanted to scale my account as I have many domains. Their support was there, but they never implemented a domain expiration date. Their website message is: "The TLD of your site isn't supported for the domain check. You can view the supported TLDs in our docs.".
Their competitors can do what they can't. That made me jump ships. Now, ALL my domains are monitored.

Pluspunten:

The quality of their work and the number of features. Their app is modern.

Minpunten:

Sometimes their app would have a hiccup, causing a false positive. But the most annoying thing is that a monitoring tool like this cannot monitor a domain expiration date.

I am using the Email and Pushover to receaving notifications and the Pushover app sometimes not working or lagging to send me the notifications. Perhaps if you create an official app of the Oh Dear, it works better than Pushover app.

Robust Website Monitoring Tool

Pluspunten:

I've used several website monitoring tools over the years, and OhDear is by far the easiest and most robust. We use OhDear to monitor our client sites, broken links, DNS, SSL certs, lighthouse speeds, and more. Their API is just as powerful.

Minpunten:

I have no dislikes. The only thing that I would like to see is the ability to monitor script tags in source code. For example, if a Google Analytics tag goes missing.

Love OhDear

I love the many different checks available, it was ahead of the game when it launched and keeps improving. I also like grouping my sites, and the many notifications and their in-depth customisability

It only seems to check the homepage of the site. It would be great to be able to check multiple pages without using up more of the site limit, for up time of crucial pages

Oh Dear is a must-have for all web devs

Opmerkingen: Super-responsive and friendly support team, they're constantly adding new features and functionality, while improving what's already there. No notes.

Oh Dear helps us sleep at night, knowing there's a watchful eye on all of our web apps. Our clients love it, too—they see lots of added value in the *many* tools that Oh Dear has to offer, even if they're not working with it directly.

Minpunten:

The *only* thing we're missing are notifications via Google Chat. That's it.

Good monitoring product

Opmerkingen: We have been using Oh Dear for a few years and have been happy with the tool. It is pretty inexpensive and the only tool that had broken link checks at the time.

Pluspunten:

With Oh Dear, you can configure monitoring on all the things you'd expect like uptime, response time, SSL cert validation. It goes above and beyond by testing for broken links and allowing me to group my monitored sites on the dashboard.

Minpunten:

I really don't have any negatives to list on Oh Dear.

The best site monitoring tool I ever used

Opmerkingen: Oh Dear is one of those set-and-forget tools that you configure once, and then you hope to not be notified by them. Super reliable, love all those various checks that I can set up for my domains. It's not only site-is-down monitor, it's also cron, sitemaps, performance, lighthouse reports, status pages, etc. I love that I can give access to others as well, good for reports. Their support is also great, there were several occasions when I reported some bugs and they fixed them promptly, which is awesome. And the configuration is very easy - you add the domain, and depending on some features send them an HTTP request, and that's it. Super easy.

Pluspunten:

This is an all-in-one-tool for all things related to my sites monitoring.

Minpunten:

Being on a grandfathered plan, I can't upgrade to yearly payments to have less invoices to deal with :)

Truly great tool

Opmerkingen: It’s a truly great tool that I constant recommend. We migrated from a competitor and would do it again any time.

It has an impressive variety of checks, ensuring you really are monitoring every little detail. On top of that you can implement custom checks. It also has great alerting settings with account and site granularity and fallbacks. You can even snooze alerts. The product is constantly evolving and improving.

It occasionally takes a while to load, maybe related to the amount of sites we have

OhDear is a great product and has an easy to use interface. I started using this product for up-time and domain checks, and later found out about more features such as the Application Monitoring option which works perfectly with Laravel projects.

Minpunten:

In the past we've had a few issues with false positives and there was 1 occasion where an domain check was not executed which resulted in our team not receiving the notifications about an domain which then expired.

Opmerkingen: The dashboard give a nice user experience, good notification options. We came from uptimerobot, but OhDear saved us a lot time with the application health monitors!

No custom ping monitors for smtp server uptime.

Does what we need with minimal fuss

Opmerkingen: We switched from another provider because it became overly complicated to use and wasn't performing as we wanted. Plus costs were increasing that we couldn't justify. Oh Dear was refreshing because it just does what we want/need without unnecessary bloat. So often platforms constantly add features and functionality causing unwanted distractions as a customer. Oh Dear does the things we want whilst remaining simple to use and using up minimal time. We run a couple of accounts for multiple projects and have no reason to look elsewhere.

Great Monitoring Service With Awesome Docs, API and Support

Pluspunten:

Great range of health checks for websites / web services. Great notification settings. Great docs and API. And if there are issues or questions, the support is very fast and helpful.

Minpunten:

I don't like that the pricing is based on bulk packages. You don't pay per site, but per 5 / 10 / 25 / 50 / ... sites. So if you use 26 sites, you have a relatively bad price per site, whereas you have a very good price if you use 25 sites.
