Pluspunten:

I love QuickBooks for Non-Profits! I have used this software exclusively for the past 10 years with no problems at all. I have received numerous compliments from Board Members of the accuracy and detail I provide when it comes to our financial reports. I have been told I provide the best reports they have seen (many are members of other non-profit boards). It is all accomplished with just a few clicks and the reports printed out!

Minpunten:

It does take a bit of getting used to. Especially when you are first setting up the system. Once it is set up, it runs along fine. One thing to make sure of is the category of the items you are entering. Otherwise, your reports will contain mis-categorized information. Be sure to check over your reports for accuracy in that area. If identified, it is a simple fix - but you must check it over.

The Best Option Out There

Opmerkingen: We were doing all of our accounting manually before and it got to a point where we could not keep up. Now none of our upcoming expenses are a surprise and we know with great accuracy what our financial position is while we are determining if an opportunity is right for us.

Pluspunten:

I like that it is universally used so no matter how many different financial professionals from how many different companies I have to deal with they are familiar with the software so there is no learning or teaching curve there.

Minpunten:

The biggest flaw I would say is when a new 3rd party program comes out that works well with my business Quickbooks seems to lag behind in having some kind of integration available. Ideally I would like all my softwares so integrate with Quickbooks so that I can use the full power of the system.

The Sofware You Love To Hate

Opmerkingen: We have used Enterprise for years and we had to make a change because our inventory was getting out of control. Sadly, Enterprise is missing about 5 things to make their manufacturing perfect and it just doesn't look like that is ever going to happen. Accordingly, we had to try and find an MRP software and the only way it would work well was moving to QBO. This was like making a choice to either get punched in the gut or punched in the throat. Either inventory was workable or accounting was workable.

Pluspunten:

It integrates with our current ECommerce cart and a few other programs (e.g. Zapier).

Minpunten:

They have radically tried to over-simplify the product. For instance, the Vendor tab being under Expenses. As every accountant knows, Vendors aren't solely about Expenses. This is just one example of how, in trying to make this product more intuitive, they have thwarted anyone with accounting experience in using it. There are so many things you cannot delete. Too many to try and list here.

Worth the money!

Opmerkingen: It has been great so far, I moved from the desktop quick books to the online advanced and it has been worth the effort to change subscriptions. I feel I am making the most out of the extra money and using all advanced features to help me manage.

Pluspunten:

I can better customise my spreadsheets and data compared to other services that offer similar products. It just feels like I can adjust all of my information more using the online advanced and store my information and clients' information in multiple different ways.

Minpunten:

The pricing, being monthly seems slightly more expensive compared to other services, however, you do get your money's worth for the extra support and extra channels of using QuickBooks.

QBO Improving

Opmerkingen: We experience little downtime, despite some slowing of speeds. We're impressed with QBO at this time.

Pluspunten:

Many new features being updated regularly. Does what we need it to do.

Minpunten:

Speed improvements as our file grows is very important.

Not Suited for Nonprofit Organizations

Opmerkingen: While we have cobbled together charts of accounts to somewhat make it useful for our organization, when we can afford accounting software made for nonprofits we will change systems. This has been a painful learning experience.

Pluspunten:

Low cost, easy to find CPA who knows how to use it

Minpunten:

It may be fine for a for-profit business, but it is not well suited for nonprofit organizations that must do fund accounting.

Great customer service and easy integration

Opmerkingen: I appreciate its comprehensive features for managing finances and the fact that it highlights challenges. There is also a great deal of customer support.

Pluspunten:

Easily integrates with a variety of third-party applications.

Minpunten:

Regular updates can sometimes disrupt workflows or require users to relearn certain features.

easy to operate and can do all the things that you needed it for doing the book keeping.

Opmerkingen: its a life changing software. a person with little knowledge of accounting can also use this software.

its easy to go. no problem in doing any kind of modifications.

its very simple and you can alter the things very easily. need some control on the modifications

View/Print, stubs, W2, or any other info you need!

Opmerkingen: I've only been using quick books for about 2 months. We recently just switched over to this at my job.

Pluspunten:

Being able to view/print, your pay stubs, W2, or, any type of tax information you need to view.

Minpunten:

There's nothing that I dislike, but, I've had many issues wben viewing my stubs, or tax info, the entire app stays on a blank white screen. Other than that, I like using QuickBooks!

Quickbooks Online Advanced

Opmerkingen: There are so many reasons why we love working on Quickbooks online. The credit card processor working through our website, the mobile app and card processor, as well as the integration to WordPress and to help add automation to our financial recording.

Pluspunten:

There are so many features to this software, but my favorite is definitely the online platform. I am able to see the progress of the business through my phone or iPad and not just sitting behind a desk. So much business is done on the road or moving around and having the app easily accessible I can always be in touch with what is going on in the company.

Minpunten:

Setting up the new company file was difficult. We were moving from QuickBooks desktop and it had to much data (20 years worth) that we were not able to compress it then upload the information to the new platform. We were able to do batch uploads which did allow us to preserve some data but it did make the transition a little more difficult than it needed to be.

Veteran User of QBO

Opmerkingen: Overwhelmingly positive. I find it very intuitive. It does the job and I enjoy using the software. It doesn't frustrate me.

Pluspunten:

The reporting is good, the system is robust, the bank rec works, a lot can be automated, I use the payroll feature too which saves a lot of time.

Minpunten:

The pension connection keeps not sinking so I manually have to go to the NEST website to enter in the numbers.

Truly great program

Opmerkingen: It has been an overall positive experience. Our old program was clunky and really was not designed like move modern programs. Quickbooks Online Advanced is truly a great product.

Pluspunten:

I like that everything is easy to use and intuitive. We swapped from another program and were able to jump right in and start working immediately with little to no training.

Minpunten:

The only issue that I have with Quickbooks Online Advanced has to do with the integration with Clio. The issue happens when you write one check to a vendor for multiple client matters. It ports them over to Clio as one entry. Other than that everything works perfectly.

Surprised that I like Quickbooks Online

Opmerkingen: I knew I would have a learning curve after using Desktop Premium. That learning curve was shorter than expected and I am now considering features such as expense receipts. I will compare to using Expensify (which I dislike, but is used by several staff). I am always able to find workarounds and/or strategies to do what I want to do with invoices, reports, bills, and reports. I haven't fully explored the reporting features yet, though the immediate needs are easily met.

Pluspunten:

As I become more familiar with navigating through QBO (this software), I have come to like it much more than a previous version which I used briefly a few years ago. I like this software and have had only minor and temporary adjustment issues after converting from Quickbooks Desktop Premium.

Minpunten:

Surprisingly, I don't have any strong dislikes. My navigation and use habits with Desktop had developed over several years. I can do everything in the Online version though I spend longer at this point. The new habits are quickly decreasing the extra time I initially spent. I found that I can have a few browser windows open so I am not constantly going back to a previous menu item. That was a major issue initially, and is now a minor annoyance at times.

Highly recommend

Opmerkingen: I enjoy using this software and have saved a lot of time with bringing all things into one location. Plus handing over reports and data to the accountant has been a breeze since using this.

Pluspunten:

This product optimized our invoicing, inventory, client information and more into one location which saved on price and saves a lot of time.

Minpunten:

I do not love the price per user and would like to see a group discount or something.

Great step up from QB desktop

Opmerkingen: QB Advanced has been a great addition to our workplace. I am the main user and I like the ease of reports and other functions.

Pluspunten:

The product is user friendly. It is easy to navigate and find all the features. The tech support are always friendly, fast and always help with any questions I have had.

Minpunten:

There are many features that we do not use, but I'm sure would be helpful to other companies.

Quickbooks Online not all it's cracked up to be, Desktop version is much better

Opmerkingen: Customer service has been terrific, however so many problems with online. I used the desktop version for over 20 years and the online version is littered with problems that customer service was unable to solve. Hopefully as time goes on it will become a better product.

Pluspunten:

The ability to use it remotely and store everything in the cloud

Minpunten:

The reporting features are awful. Unable to get the same or even similar reports with necessary information as the Desktop version

Works well for small business

Opmerkingen: On a day to day bases, it is easy to use and easy to see a quick snapshot of where our company stands. Customers can view and pay their invoices online and money is deposited quickly. It has helped increase our cashflow.

Pluspunten:

The software was fairly easy to set up and is very easy to use. Very forgiving. Errors can be corrected easily. (with the exceptions noted below)

Minpunten:

The recurring transaction feature does not always work as expected. Accounts or products that are created in error can only be made inactive, not deleted. We now have a lot of extras since the accountant that helped us import our Sage data imported everything twice. We have 2 of all our products and accounts.

QBO Advanced is underrated

Opmerkingen: QBO is easy to use and not because it's aimed towards inexperienced users or people who have no accounting background. It can be simple or used in advanced ways.

Pluspunten:

The dashboard, cloud-based nature, and layout of the software has been up to date for at least 7 years whereas other general ledger software have stuck with more traditional builds.

Minpunten:

There isn't much I dislike. There are changes that are desired but these are features that other software also do not have.

Ubiquitous and necessary, but far from perfect

Opmerkingen: It is a necessary evil.

Pluspunten:

Online access is convenient. Most clients are already using it. Easy to get accountant access. Bank feeds are superior to the desktop product. Integrates with many different tools through Zapier. Works with a large array of direct 3rd party add ins.

Minpunten:

It lacks basic and essential features such as reliable backup/restoration of data, month end closing tools, etc. forcing us to pay third parties to make up for what QBO lacks. The receipt capture is too limited and is very poor at matching transactions if it doesn’t automatically recognize a receipt. The system is extremely nit picky about which type of transaction you are using in the moment. This is not an issue with QB desktop as you can easily enter almost any type of transaction from the register without the need to tell it what you are doing in advance. The product does not often get substantive improvements and yet the subscription fees are very high and are increasing over time. Pay more, get the same product.

Quickbooks Online Review

Opmerkingen: Overall for bookkeeping and accounting this software is simple to use as long as you don't use other features like processing payments.

Pluspunten:

It was very easy to set up and use. Interface is nicely laid out. Reports are easy to find and prepare.

Minpunten:

You are not able to create multiple invoice templates with different company names ie. one company with a numbered name and another with the business name. Also you have no control over online payments. Quickbooks will give you a chargeback but they won't release any info on the transaction so best not to use them for your online store. Use another service.

A Must-Have For Administrators Looking For Efficient Payroll and Budgeting Software

Opmerkingen: Exceptional. I would be unable to handle the administrative functions of my position as well as client caseload without this software.

Pluspunten:

Ease of use! I am not an accountant nor am I professionally trained in business operations. When I was elevated from Staff Attorney to Executive Director I inherited administrative responsibilities that I was completely unfamiliar with. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how intuitive and efficient the software is. I am confident the transition into my position would have been far more difficult, but not for our subscription to QuickBooks Online.

Minpunten:

After connecting our client management database and bank accounts to Quickbooks Online, I began to see duplicate transaction entries. In troubleshooting the issue, I discovered that deleting the journal entry created by our client database was the only way to resolve the issue. This makes me uncomfortable. I wish there were a way to "archive" the journal transaction. This would allow the system to properly reflect the journal created by the client database, as well as my direct entry in the accounting software without affecting the overall balance.

Easy to use

Opmerkingen: I am completely self taught with keeping books in my business. Quickbooks online has made this even easier than any desktop version. I have been using Quickbooks online since it first came out and I am pleased with the continual progress and improvements made to the system. I feel the fees are very reasonable, but I do take advantage of many of the features. Payroll is the best feature. It saves time and money. I would never want to use an outside source unless I no longer had to do any bookkeeping myself.

Pluspunten:

Easy to set up and use. Help section is very useful. Most everything is intuitive to figure out. It is great to access information from anywhere and anytime. Mobile access is good. The Pay Now feature with invoices is very nice and eliminates the need for credit cards.

Minpunten:

CHAT feature is hidden deep in trouble shooting.

Great Accounting System

Pluspunten:

Quickbooks is an easy to use program at a minimal cost. It has all the features we would want and can connect to our payroll system.

Minpunten:

The only thing I do not like is that the reporting is not shared between our accountant and our company. They made a custom report to pull, but I cannot see that on my side which is frustrating.

Good standard accounting solution

Opmerkingen: Overall it's a good bang for the buck by providing a rather robust accounting program for a mid-size non-profit. I wish they could do multi-company consolidations all from within QuickBooks and not having to export to Excel.

Pluspunten:

Quickbooks has great learning tools and resources to acquire knowledge on how to use their platform. It can take some time getting used to everything (as it does with any system), but once you get the hang of it, it is generally pretty easy to navigate and set things up.

Minpunten:

Their customer service is usually pretty helpful for the technical pieces but we had some issues with our billing and they were a complete mess to work with. I guess as long as you are paying your bill, that's all they care about and don't want to waste their time figuring out billing issues. Also, there are a few limitations in a some of their reports that don't seem to make sense and even stumped some of the customer service agents that I had talked to.
