Needs a plugin for everything. It can be very difficult to reach peak design & functionality. Very easy to set up basic site.

Great for Web Pros, Not Great for Sole Proprietor

Opmerkingen: I work mainly with self-employed individuals and small businesses that do not have an in-house web design team. Because of this, I usually do not recommend WordPress to my clients. For the everyday business owner trying to edit their own website, WordPress can be overwhelming & very difficult to navigate.

Pluspunten:

It offers the ability to completely customize and have full control over every aspect & function of your website. You can easily manage SEO. Great for web design professionals and businesses with an in-house web design team.

Minpunten:

It is difficult for anyone who does not have web design experience to use. It can be easily hacked if you do not properly secure your site.

Wordpress - Best in the digital realm

Opmerkingen: A great experience overall. Fast and lots of ways to make it work for your project or business. Haven't had issues with Wordpress and has a strong online community for support.

I love that it has no limitations. Wordpress gives you the option to add plugins and themes to truely make your website your own and a unique experience.

Minpunten:

Can be tricky to customise at first. There are many tricks you learn by using the software over time. Can be quite daunting at first as of where to start or how to edit minor details.

My favorite blogging/writing platform

Opmerkingen: I have been using WordPress for almost four years now both for websites that I have worked for in the past and for my website and I have loved everything about it since day one. It is so easy to use and there's so many different options that you can choose from to customize everything just the way you want it.

Pluspunten:

WordPress is so easy to use, even for beginners. I love all of the different customization options that are provided for designing your website along with all of the different blocks to choose from when writing on WordPress and another thing I love about using WordPress is the ability to schedule posts which comes in handy for articles that are written in the middle of the night, I can schedule them for the next morning when more people will see them.

Minpunten:

I can't really think of any cons with WordPress off the top of my head.

Opmerkingen: Great idea to build a website. A little bit of study can make you a web designer. Surely, you first should know the concepts such as website, web hosting, domain, server, php, ftp ... etc.

So many ready to use templates to create a website.

Minpunten:

Sometimes, too many restrictions to customize the website using a template or too simple.

Minpunten:

Plugins can be a huge headache. When Web Developers switch it can be hard to know what plugins are essential.

If you're building websites use WordPress it's a must to help you get started and familiar with building websites.

Opmerkingen: My overall experience with WordPress is pretty good I've been using them for years took me a while to learn how to use a platform as there's a little learning curve but this is the leading standard platform if you're building websites you should start with WordPress as if you master this every other builder will be easy for you to use as most nowadays are drag and drop.

Pluspunten:

WordPress is a universal platform They also have many apps and plugins that you can use with the system there's a slight learning curve with WordPress it's more for advanced users but they do have plugins that allow it even newbies to get started so I love this.

Minpunten:

I wish WordPress was a little easier to use for newbies but through their plugins system they have pretty much solved this problem.

Novice designer

Opmerkingen: As this is what I now know I am unlikely to move away from it. As I say, it's robust and if I decided to get someone else to build my website for me a pro developer should be able to pick it up immediately. Equally if I get stuck there is always someone who knows.

Pluspunten:

I use WP with Divi - a template website builder. WP seems to me to be robust, kept uptodate and its dashboard is intuitive to use. Whilst some website design knowledge is necessary to use this well, an enthusiastic novice would get by.

Minpunten:

I sometimes struggle with adding blog posts - it seems to be more clunky than it needs to be - but maybe there are quicker ways and I haven't found them yet.

A Great Option for Small Businesses/New Bloggers

Opmerkingen: Overall I prefer to use WordPress compared to most of its competitors.

Pluspunten:

WordPress is an economical host for smaller businesses. It's pretty simple to use and features many helpful integrations. Although the interface appears dated, me as a first time user was able to create blog posts pretty easily with some practice.

Minpunten:

I have difficulty inputting text using copy/paste methods without interrupting the formatting in place. It would be helpful if this small adjustment could be made.I also enjoy the options for customization, however believe they could expand on this part.

Why we use Wordpress...although there aren't many other free options

Opmerkingen: Wordpress is fairly simple to navigate and we had over five websites built using their platform. We still use Wordpress, rather than Wix, GoDaddy etc, but the new Gutenberg update has caused us problems with updating our websites. The themes don't seem to work and Wordpress is constantly asking us to use WPBakery Page Builder which we don't need so it gets pretty annoying when you can't update properly.

Pluspunten:

Wordpress is free to use and easy to understand as you get started on building your website for personal use of for a company. The options to customize the webiste using different themes is endless and Wordpress even give you some free templates to start with. Definitely a great place to start when building a website.

Opmerkingen: Overall, I have always loved and continue to choose Wordpress as a website builder over any other option. While other options may be simpler to use to set-up a website, for anyone looking to grow or expand a business, you will eventually need to switch to Wordpress to get the advanced functionalities it provides that others do not.

Wordpress is the go-to if you plan on implementing advanced SEO into your website and if you plan to scale your business. Aside from this key aspect, I love Wordpress for it's customizability as well as features that can be accessed to make at website, blog, online shop high level.

Minpunten:

Additional cost for customizable themes as well as challenge with setting up website and editing code if this is something you are not familiar with and prefer not to use template creator plug-ins like Elementor, etc. Elementor is amazing for this though! Wordpress is also expensive to maintain a website through with a host as after the first initial year, prices skyrocket, which can be a challenge for a brand new business. The only option to prevent this is to change hosts, however, this can create additional challenges with keeping a domain name and also additional costs to keep your existing website live through another host provider.

My favorite tool when building any website

Opmerkingen: As for me, WordPress.com was a great way to get exposure and display my app projects in a matter of clicks. Working with a friendly interface and with a mobile version was a great convenience. Nevertheless, as I move forward, it is apparent that the customization limits and lack of plugins will lead me to want a self-hosted WordPress for more control and convenience.

Working as a mobile app developer, I found the mobile-friendly designs available on WordPress.com appealing. I could assure you that I am comfortable whether it is a blog or a portfolio as long as you are able to present it beautifully. Little do they know, even the blogging abilities built into the software are great – helping with writing articles and posting news.

Minpunten:

From a developers point of view, I found the customization options a bit restrictive. There were some missing pieces when it came to micromanaging designing. Beyond this, the basic plan has many limitations on how many plugins and themes can be installed, which was somewhat annoying.

The most I like on WordPress is that there are available themes and plugins of any kind. It is easy to choose a deigns because there are available entire markets for templates. After choosing one importing and customizing it after my needs was very easy. Plugins needs to be mentioned here, from security plugins to SEO management all can be found in the plugins directory. Something else worth mentioning are the drag and drop builders that can help you create or adding contact to pages without any programming skills.

Opmerkingen: Well, that is understandable it did take time to learn. It is arguably the most feature-complete website builder available. Once you know WordPress, other builders are super easy because they are mostly drag-and-drop.

It's so versatile WordPress really is. All kinds of cool things you can add with apps and plugins, though. It gets a bit tricky to learn at first, but has beginner tools that can be used. I like that it can be simple or complex.

Word-press will need its plugins in everything. It's hard to perfect, but it's super easy to start a basic site. WordPress is great! I've used it for ages.

Opmerkingen: WordPress is the most complex CMS that I ever used, easy to use and customize with the help of the themes and plugins. Frequently updates increase websites security.

I really like WordPress because is very easy to work with, with the help from themes the website design is easy to make, weather you create it or buy a custom theme. To add more functions and features to my WordPress setup I use plugins which are easy to install and setup.

Opmerkingen: Very good whilst they had live chat. This was excellent. I was able to build a nice website. The support element is key for my business and their having withdrawn live chat for most of their packages has become a real issue.

WordPress has withdrawn live chat for most packages. Be careful... Their support is now awful. It's done by bot or email. The bot often gives wrong answers and clearly can't help with specific issues. The email support often takes many hours for a response and if further questions are needed to resolve an issue it takes hours or days to try and get an answer. WordPress isn't always easy to use so the support element is important.
