PRTG Is a Great Tool for many Organizations

Opmerkingen: PRTG brings a lot of value to our organization and it works well to notify our Department immediately when something is down. We have a critical need for this. Some of the user interface and customization for alerts could be better though.

Pluspunten:

PRTG works on Mac or PC! I can set it up to alert me only on certain items in my org tree by priority, and it works 100% and I don't ever miss notifications.

Minpunten:

Some alert settings could be more customizable or paused for a certain time period easier. The user interface could be setup a little cleaner and up to date.

PRTG helps to keep an eye on a real-time network in use for an event

Opmerkingen: Tracking local network devices at an event, and with notifications when something is offline have greatly helped to reduce the stress of keeping an eye on device uptime. a local overview of the network has been a great tool

Pluspunten:

there's a lot to it, as such, it covers alot of ground. I'm sure there are templates and possibly scripting that I haven't explored or discovered, but what I have used for monitoring remote events has worked really well.

Minpunten:

there's a bit of learning curve, and as time permits, I hope to eventually get to dig into it. An intro at maybe a simpler level would be nice, with maybe an incentive track to learn more in-depth usage

PRTG makes monitoring my network a breeze, keeping me informed and able to fix issues quickly.

Pluspunten:

The customizable dashboards and alerts make staying on top of my network's health a cinch.

Minpunten:

The learning curve was a bit steep at first, and I wish there were more pre-built sensor options.

PRTG is a great option to monitor your IT assets

Opmerkingen: The experience has been good in general. Once you get everything done in terms of configurations and custom settings, you basically need to keep watching the dashboard and your email for the notifications.

Pluspunten:

I like the interface, which is very versatile and allows you to customize the views that are more important to you. I also like to receive notifications when something happens so we can quickly react and fix.

Minpunten:

Some of the sensors require very complex configurations and that sometimes prevents us to get the most from PRTG. The system is so complete that it also has too much settings for each sensor which sometimes makes the work of configuring them very exausting.

BEST NETWORK MONITOR

Opmerkingen: Very great Experince especially for Network Monitoring and Tracking of the Different Network Devices and Sensors.

Pluspunten:

1. Easy Access and Management of a large number of Both LANs and WANs on just a single window. 2. On-premises installation for full control over the company's data, configuration & updates. 3. Free Version of the Software with most of the core network management tools with its limitation being that it offers only 10 Sensors.

Minpunten:

Sensor Limitations: The Free Version of the Software is limited to only 10 sensors

Proactive Network Management Made Easy

Opmerkingen: The overview that PRTG provides about network health and performance is incredibly important in detecting and resolving a possible security threat at its quickest. This proactive approach reduces our downtime a great deal and increases our overall security posture.

Pluspunten:

PRTG really excels at providing detailed network visibility. Customizable dashboards and real-time alerting enable strong security. The way this integrates with other existing systems, with deep reporting, makes my proactive management of risk much easier.

Minpunten:

While PRTG is feature-rich, the initial setup may be a little time-consuming. It would be nice if there were more streamlined configuration options for quicker deployment.

No probes for linux systems - although it is still possible to monitor linux devices.

PRTG captures a big picture overview of an organization's entire infrastructure, the good and the bad which creates a reliable source for users who are seeking for monitoring purposes.

Minpunten:

PRTG can benefit by having more alert settings in different situations or having the ability to pause on certain devices at the discretion of the user.

Alerting is on time and can connect most of the devices.

Network scanning is not accurate and it cannot scan multiple networks even if it has access to it. Maybe I am wrong but that is what I experienced.

the best IT infrastructure analysis with PRTG

Opmerkingen: As technical support of our organization focused on LATAM customers we have made use of different tools with which we monitor the entire deployment of fiber optic network in different countries, PRTG stands out within that palette of monitoring tools since it allows remotely and through its different communication protocols to connect remotely with the different equipment and resources and obtain from them clear and accurate data, In addition, we can geographically locate the different sensors and program preventive alarms according to their impact on the network, the notifications are instantaneous and arrive simultaneously to the personnel who are active in the shift for their immediate reaction.

When we talk about PRTG we immediately think of a very consistent, stable and oriented tool for the analysis and monitoring of all our network resources, being part of NOC Colombia through PRTG I can have a global view of the status of the fiber optic network and the transport layer equipment involved in it, provides detailed metrics that help us to diagnose the different failures reported by our users and incidentally to generate the trubleshooting of the different failures reported on the access network. Referring to the tool I can say that it has a very complete interface with its different functions strategically located and able to allow adaptation to our needs.

Minpunten:

Based on the criteria of the number of network components (servers, switches, routers, virtual machines) it is necessary to evaluate the type of license which depends on the number of sensors that are required to have absolute vision of all these teams, therefore, the associated costs will rise, although seeing the cost/benefit ratio is justifiable that investment.

Almost 2 Year with my favourite Monitoring Tool

Opmerkingen: I've been training some new persons in our company to use PRTG, and they are using it like pros.It is a great tool to use, today we have more than 35 thousand sensors monitoring devices.

Pluspunten:

PRTG is an easy-to-use monitoring tool, it is easy to get going, To set up a monitoring environment is easy, just deploy a core server or a remote probe connected to the core server.The auto discovery is a great tool to get the monitoring of devices fast.

Minpunten:

Sometimes the auto discovery tool affect the application performance.The Map Designer should be better with more options to personalize the maps.A Grafana extension should be implemented.

PRTG - I rely on this more than Windows or Linux themselves

Opmerkingen: I do love this software and my job would be 10x more difficult without it. The 24/7 monitoring, the vast array of sensors available, the maps that can be made available without need for a login, and along with the historical data that is available make this a must use piece of software. It's worth the time even if all you can use is the free 100 sensor version.

Pluspunten:

I can monitor just about everything I need to monitor. Most are via the built in sensors but the options for custom sensors takes it to the next level.

Minpunten:

The price is hard to get past. Smaller shops would have a hard time validating the cost. The interface is can be overwhelming (not sure how to avoid that) and it's frustrating that it's not possible to multi-select objects on a map and move them all at the same time. Instead you have to move them one at a time which can become very tedious.

Very powerful option for monitoring with several ways to alert when issues arise

Pluspunten:

Not only did we appreciate the depth and capabilities of the product, but also the customization and granularity of it, allowing us to view the same source information and alerts in different ways. You can receive emails and from there automate your Service Management tools, but the possibility of creating complementary and customized dashboards that we can place on a big screen in our IT room is great.

Minpunten:

No real complaints, I did what we needed and way more.
